Sorrento State Emergency Service

The members of the Sorrento Unit of the Victoria State Emergency Service are volunteers who provide immediate assistance to the community in emergencies.

The Unit performs a wide variety of services including general rescue, search, storm damage mitigation and road crash rescue. Our service area is one of the largest in the region - covering the southern Mornington peninsula from Portsea to Mount Martha and across to Flinders.

A few years ago the unit had only a handful of members. Now our number has reached into the fourties and rising. With the increasing number and skills, the unit is going from strength to strength.

We also provide support to other emergency services (Victoria Police, Metropolitan Ambulance Service, Country Fire Authority, Australian Volunteer Coast Guard) and help other local community organisations at events.
